Hot Weather Seed Bundle Growing Guide

Bella Garden Seeds Growing guides are based on details provided by our botanist to answer your questions and set you up for success. If you have additional questions, email us at hello@bellagardenseeds.com to get the help you need.

🌱 Getting Started

All crops in this bundle are warm-season producers. Start peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant indoors 6–10 weeks before your last frost. Direct sow cucumbers, okra, corn, and zucchini after frost danger has passed. Melons and watermelons can be started indoors 3–4 weeks early for a longer season.

☀️ Sun Requirements

Every crop in this bundle requires full sun — at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Heat-loving crops like okra, peppers, and melons actually perform better with more sun and warmer temperatures.

💧 Watering

Summer heat increases water demand. Check soil moisture daily and water deeply at the base of plants. Mulch generously to retain moisture and keep soil temperatures stable. Melons and watermelons should be watered consistently during fruit development, then reduced as they approach ripeness.

✂️ Harvesting

Pick often to keep plants producing. Cucumbers, zucchini, and peppers should be harvested every 1–2 days. Okra must be picked every other day when fruiting. Melons and watermelons are ready when the rind yellows on the underside and the vine near the fruit begins to dry.

🧺 Storing Your Harvest

Store tomatoes and peppers at room temperature. Cucumbers and zucchini refrigerate for up to a week. Whole melons and watermelons keep at room temperature for 1–2 weeks. Once cut, refrigerate and use within 3–5 days.
