🌱 Getting Started

This bundle brings the Italian kitchen garden to your backyard.

Start tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers indoors 6–8 weeks before your last frost, then transplant outside when the weather warms.

Basil, arugula, parsley, and zucchini can be direct sown outdoors in spring.

☀️ Sun Requirements

Italian garden crops love full sun.

Tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, and peppers need 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce their best.

Arugula and parsley tolerate a bit of afternoon shade, especially in summer.

💧 Watering

Water consistently at the base of plants to keep soil evenly moist.

Tomatoes in particular need steady watering, as irregular moisture can cause blossom end rot and cracking.

Basil is sensitive to both overwatering and drought, so monitor closely.

✂️ Harvesting

San Marzano and Roma tomatoes are ready when fully red and slightly soft to the touch.

Zucchini is best picked small (6–8 inches) for the most tender texture.

Harvest basil and parsley frequently to keep plants full and bushy.

🧺 Storing Your Harvest

Tomatoes and eggplant store best at room temperature.

Fresh basil keeps stem-down in a glass of water on the counter.

Zucchini keeps in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Parsley wraps well in a damp paper towel in the fridge.

San Marzano Tomatoes

This was my first time growing tomatoes and these grew well. The growing guide was really helpful. Making sauce with my own tomatoes felt like a big deal.
