Leafy Green Seed Bundle Growing Guide

Bella Garden Seeds Growing guides are based on details provided by our botanist to answer your questions and set you up for success. If you have additional questions, email us at hello@bellagardenseeds.com to get the help you need.

🌱 Getting Started

Leafy greens are some of the fastest and most productive crops you can grow.

Most varieties in this bundle prefer cool weather. Plant in early spring and again in late summer for a fall harvest.

Lettuce, spinach, and arugula can also be grown in containers indoors near a sunny window.

☀️ Sun Requirements

Leafy greens can grow in full sun or partial shade. 4–6 hours is sufficient for most varieties.

In warmer months, some afternoon shade actually extends your harvest by keeping temperatures cooler and slowing bolting.

💧 Watering

Keep soil consistently moist for the most tender and flavorful greens.

Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Inconsistent watering causes bitterness in lettuce and arugula, so steady moisture is key.

✂️ Harvesting

Harvest outer leaves first and let the center of the plant continue growing for multiple cuts from each plant.

Pick greens in the morning when they are crispest.

Harvest before any plants send up a flower stalk, which signals the end of the best-quality leaves.

🧺 Storing Your Harvest

Refrigerate leafy greens immediately after harvest because they are sensitive to heat.

Store unwashed in a breathable bag with a paper towel to absorb excess moisture.

Most greens keep 3–5 days in the refrigerator.

This was my first time growing tomatoes and these grew well. The growing guide was really helpful. Making sauce with my own tomatoes felt like a big deal.
