🌱 Getting Started

This bundle grows the vegetables that make every sandwich better.

Cool-season crops like lettuce, arugula, spinach, and onions go in spring or fall.

Tomatoes and peppers should be started indoors 6–8 weeks before your last frost and transplanted outside once the weather warms.

☀️ Sun Requirements

Most crops in this bundle prefer full sun 6 or more hours per day.

Lettuce, arugula, and spinach are the most shade-tolerant and can grow in spots that receive 4–5 hours of light, making them ideal for smaller or partially shaded gardens.

💧 Watering

Water consistently and at the base of plants.

Tomatoes prefer deep, infrequent watering. Let the soil dry slightly between sessions.

Greens prefer more consistent moisture.

Cucumbers need steady water to stay crisp and avoid bitterness.

✂️ Harvesting

Pick greens while young and tender for the best sandwich texture.

Harvest tomatoes when fully colored.

Pull onions once the tops begin to fall over and dry.

Pick cucumbers while firm and before they yellow.

🧺 Storing Your Harvest

Greens refrigerate for 3–5 days.

Tomatoes and peppers store at room temperature because refrigeration can dull their flavor.

Onions cure well in a dry, ventilated space and keep for months.

Cucumbers keep in the refrigerator for up to a week.

San Marzano Tomatoes

This was my first time growing tomatoes and these grew well. The growing guide was really helpful. Making sauce with my own tomatoes felt like a big deal.
